If you ask me what I like about being a Sindhi I can go on and on.. Yes we are loud and at times have the tendency of leaning towards bright colours and daring prints on our clothes. But if you STOP at this peripheral caricature of Sindhis you will miss our true essence.
Sindhis have a very glorious history of having created a culture of Peace, Acceptance and Supreme Prosperity in the western parts of India which now has become Pakistan. The partition was a turning point where our ancestors were uprooted from their land and had to set up camps all across India and start with practically nothing in their hands all over again.
Partition couldn’t take away from our tenacity, grit and the fundament acumen of the laws of creation. What it also could not take away was our tendency to enjoy life in all it’s diverse forms.
Sindhis are by far the most easy going, chilled out, flexible, progressive, fun loving people. Our way of demonstrating love normally finds it’s expression through food for we are the quintessential foodies. A lot of our characteristics come from our spiritual beliefs.
The learnings from Lord Jhulelal our social deity is deeply inspired by water. It is live giving, it flows and find its way towards destination and it takes every terrain in its stride when we say ” Jeko chavando Jhulelal Tahinja Thinda Bedaa Paar” it is a reminder that we need to play our roles in this play of life with full potential without fear and upmost surrender and we are bound to find our Nirvana not in some other place called Heaven but right here where we create Heaven with our love and acceptance.
Wish you all a Happy Chetichand 🙂 live every moment to its fullest and the year will take care of itself 🙂
